Europe has lost one decent airline and is in the process of losing another. Windjet, an Italian LCC has ceased operations and UK-based BMI is being taken over by BA. I will miss both of them
BMI had the most generous ff program out there. Intra-Europe redemptions were 4500 miles each way on some routes and 6000 on others. TATL was 45,000 miles. Earning was also great on hotels, where you racked up miles per night rather than per stay, and it was 1,000 miles per night. I had a flurry of redemptions to clean out my miles, but still have about 9K I was unable to use becoming much less useful BA miles. I am very sorry to see BMI go.
Windjet was an Italian LCC with decent service for an LCC and useful for me on some of its routes.
