Latest news report Kitty Hawk is under water.

Hgwy 12 is gone and what is left is covered by sand.

The sand dunes on the beach road are gone.

Highway 12 comes and goes. The stretch just below the Bonner bridge gets rebuilt after every hurricane.

Which sand dunes on the Beach Road (Virginia Dare Trail)? Those in South Nags Head are also prone to be wiped out in hurricanes, as well as a few other stretches.

Generally, the more vulnerable timeshares are Dunes South, Ocean Villas I & II, and Golden Strand. The Windjammer, OBBC I and II, High Dunes, Ocean Pines, and BIS-Duck usually do not sustain beach damage and their dunes stay intact. I have not called to check on the status of anything this time yet, however.

I just checked the website of Ocean Villas II and it says the resort is closed until further notice due to damage:

I suspect that this means that Ocean Villas I is almost certainly in the same boat, and probably Dune South, which is in highly vulnerable South Nags Head, may be, too, at least as to the oceanfront row of units.

Just Mother Nature's way of saying, "Don't build so close to the ocean, stupid!"

I have looked online for damage reports. Golden Strand shows nothing, so it looks like they came out okay. Ocean Villas reports some water in two units but fairly minor on their website. Their dune held. They say those units will be back in service by Saturday. Ocean Villas II reports some unspecified damage and that they are closed until further notice. Dunes South does not have a website to check. The other resorts have historically not had hurricane vulnerabliity.
