  • Flyer Talk poll on best ff programs

Flyer Talk has its annual poll underway for the best frequent flyer programs. AA was the winner last year for the Americas, and BA for Europe and Africa. Given the recent anti-consumer changes at DL and UA, I would expect AA to win again.

I think it's interesting that Alaska Airlines finished 6th, even though AS is, what, one-tenth the size of the large carriers. It also came out ahead of Southwest, another much bigger airline that is oft touted for its "user friendliness".

Interesting, but not surprised. Alaska has done an excellent job of building loyalty among people who fly within the areas it covers, and offers a pretty decent rewards program. Alasks did an excellent job of filling the West Coast market void that was created when USAir and American totally bungled when they acquired PSA and AirCal, respectively. Alaska saw the opportunity, stepped in, and hasn't looked back. For the travel that I do they are more than competitive with Southwest on pricing as well; it's is rare that I ever find a Southwest fare that even matches an Alaska fare.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

      “You shouldn't wear that body.”
