Any suggestions for 4 night family getaway in mid March???

I'm stumped - we are two families with kids (ages 4-8) - we all have 4 days off in mid March - a birthday and 10 year anniversary to celebrate and I don't know were to go! I'm looking for suggestions - time share or not.

Info:
Would be adults and kids
We live in New England - so East Coast is best.
Would like to go someplace warm (doesn't need to be hot - just no snow!)

We just came back from Orlando last week so really don't want that
We are going on a cruise in April - so don't want that either


I'm really stuck - anything you can think of that is kid friendly.

Williamsburg? Myrtle Beach? Hilton Head? New York?

I looked into Williamsburg since we have annual passes to Seaworld Parks - but Bush Gardens does open up until the a few days after we would be leaving. And some in the group are not into the history aspect of it at all.
I have never really done any research on Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head - not sure what they could offer.
New York sounds interesting - that is just a few hour train ride.

There is actually quite a bit that you could do with kids in NYC......Central park has a number of playgrounds, carousel, and zoo. The American Museum of natural History is great for kids in that age group. The NY Aquarium, The hall of Science, and even just walking through Times Square could be fun.

You could take a circle line cruise and get a great view of the Statue of Liberty. Maybe see a child friendly play.

Ok - regarding New York - got a suggestion for hotel choice? I have been researching - I have NO idea for location. We have a ton of Marriott points we could use.

I'm not sure what would be available for your dates, vs the cost, at the various locations. Midtown would be easiest to get around from. Here's some New York specials running thru 3/31....

The Mariott Marquis in Times Square is a great location - Crossroad of the World - but is a Cat 8. The upside is that for a family of 4, the rooms are a nice size with two double beds (remember NYC standards) and is just a fun ocation/property. There is also a Courtyard Times Square on 40th street that s well located.
DoubleTree Times Squares is great for families as each unit is a 1BR with kitchenette and includes a really nice buffet breakfast. You can get units with 2 double beds in the bedroom. Even though the 4 year olds might be considered "too big" for a stroller, I would bring one to push them around town, there is a lot of walking in NYC (think Disneyworld!) The location in the 40's is great for walks along 5th Ave to FAO Schwartz, Central Park, Central Park Zoo - a subway ride up to the Museum of Natural History. Circle Line Tour. HOHO Bus....NYC s VERY kid friendly, we just can not guarantee no snow

How about the Disney resort in Hilton Head.
It's got lots of day trip options plus it's Disney so it's very kid friendly.
You can drive to Savannah, Charleston, see the horses on Cumberland island in Georgia etc.

Just want to point out, since it was mentioned, that the NY Aquarium was damaged by Sandy and has not reopened. The Bronx Zoo and the Central Park Zoo are open, though.

Thanks All - in my research the Statue of Liberty is also closed due to the damage from Sandy. But, you can still take a boat trip around.
Hilton Head is an option - actually I would love to catch a last minute cancel at Disney Vero Beach also!!!!

Normally, visiting the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island can take hours on line, and can be a very tiring endeavor ....With young ones, it's almost better, imo, to just see it from afar.

We decided on a "staycation" and will be doing a mix. One night in CT at casino (just DH and I to celebrate our anniversary) and then 2 nights Boston with the families! Crazy - but we have never spent much time in Boston, except to go to a game or a concert. If by any chance someone spots Custom House LM unit that opens up - please let me know!!

Marriott Custom house rents for $275=$314 per night in March Sunday thru Saturday.
If you need a Sunday thru Thursday night - Marriott Destination Club members can book for 300 points = $150, Friday & Saturday for 700 points = $350.
It is a great deal for the time frame of 1/31-5/29 weekdays.
In May, if u book thru Marriott.com, the weekday rates are $379=$433 while point rent can be had for $150.

Thanks all for the information and Pat for the rental info (that I will stash in my back pocket for all future MVC possible stays) We ended up at Marriott Long Wharf. Did the Museum of Science, Aquarium, Quincy Marketplace etc. (yeah...that walk through Quincy Marketplace completely blew the diet I have been on for 2 months!!!) The whole area was crazy....I forgot it was St. Patricks day weekend!

Anyway - a tip if any of you are going to Foxwoods. If I booked room only it was $279 per night. I book the comedy show package it was $179 for the night + 2 tickets to comedy show and $30 in drinks. Made no sense - moral though.....check out the packages if you are planning on staying overnight!
