Thanks, Carolinian. I see the AB flights, will play with those. Might not be a bad idea to add a few days in Berlin.

Dusseldorf is not a bad place either. Its Old Town was rebuilt after WWII unlike Frankfurt's.

I like the IFE on AB, which functions like a tablet right on the screen, so you don't have to fish for the wired remote as on most planes. The movie selection was excellent, too. Actullay, the TATL IFE on AB is much better than either AA or BA.

Just tried calling American with a question about layover in Berlin. Wait time on the phone is over 2 hours, but there are a lot of weather issues going on in these here parts.

Does anyone know if I can book a trip with a three day layover as a "connection?" I'm guessing no, but hoping for a different answer

Yup, no more - you used to be able to but now everything is a 'segment' AKA - more points/money!

I was able to get one business class seat to Australia - very happy hubby! Cost one way $9,300+

edit - just so you know, May 4 is showing before midnight eastern but it then gives you an error message when you click thru - I noticed this last week as well.
double edit - at 12:02 am I checked again - still no US departures but I could book australia to USA or inter - australia flights....hmmmmmm

Glitter. For my inter-Australia flight the cost is 10k for SYD - CNS. Cost $430. Check the FF cost for your connection. Might not be bad.
Or use RyanAir or similar for low cost alternative. What does Carolinian suggest?

From Berlin, the flight to Paris is under $300 pp. Doable and prob worth it for the extra city. BUT the NY/Berlin flight times aren't great, so I'm going to continue to play around with it.
