  • Vegas, girls trip here I go!!!

After much ado, changes, money issues blah blah..I am booked with a girlfriend to Vegas in June, I know will be hot, we are okay with heat.

Booked thru II into Villas @ Polo Towers, 2 bedroom. ( Other suggestions before not available). Thoughts on this resort, or suggestions.

Here are our plans for thus far, flight is booked, Tickets purchased for Celine Dion, Terry Fador and Cirque "O"...think that is enough for shows.

Plan to eat breakfast, small in timeshare. Lunch and dinner mostly out. Pool probably will not use. Shopping a definate. A trip to Freemont Street ( Old Vegas). Gambling, not really, will check out some casinos, and do a bit of slots but not major gambling.

Rather not rent a car, already spending a fortune LOL. Did I mention is my first time to Vegas!!

Any suggestions for requests to room floor etc? Is soap, shampoo supplied daily, maid service daily or no?

Any and all suggestions appreciated...Thanks in advance. I am pretty excited despite having to go thru holidays, take a car out of Mexico, and like 3 trips in Mexico first, but still this is a first..so must do and see?

It is silly to buy Vegas tickets upfront online. You pay top dollar this way.
There are several companies in Vegas selling deeply discounted tickets up to 3 days in advance. Largest of them is Tix4Tonight. We always use them, they have tons of tickets, including for the shows you mentioned. There are also $2 off per ticket coupons. You have to buy them in person at their counter, not online.

I recommend return the tickets if you can and buy when you are there. Will save a lot of money. And don't worry, they always have tickets. All those shows run there for years, almost every day.

You can also go to LA Comedy -- they are always great!

Trip to Fremont street probably not worth it, it is a depressing place as it is today. All fun is mostly on the strip and in few off-strip casinos like Rio, Palms and Orleans. Visit them too.

Not renting a car, hmm, I wouldn't do that. Many reasons:
    * Eating on the strip is much more expensive compared to off strip. You can't go to Chinatown for example, and to many other locations
    * You will need to rent a cab sometimes, another expense
    * Airport shuttle back and forth would be ~$24 for 2
and the car is ~$175 for week (on kayak for June). Probably more economical and convenient to rent a car. Parking is very easy and free everywhere.

Another recommendation for Vegas: don't gamble. You will see all those casinos, and guess where the money comes from to build them? Gamblers paid for all of them. House always wins.
There are so many things to do there ... Every time I go there I overhear the conversations like this "I regret so much I lost this 15 hundred today!" Amounts vary.

Also don't buy a timeshare in Vegas! There are many people offering you freebies for attending a presentation. Don't go there and don't but it, they are all scam artists.

    Hope this helps.

Jerry, using you link, this is only last minute, 1-3 days out go tickets, correct?
So if Pam wants any additional tickets, she can get them right at the Hawaiin Marketplace in front of Polo Towers.

It will be desperately hot in June (been there, never again) so daytime walking around is out but after dark you should be able to walk to City Center/Cosmopolitan, planet Hollywood, bellagio, NY NY, MGM. Might want to bring your bathing suit for morning/evening pool time. Although small, it is on the roof and under renovation with the re-opening at the end of March.
Agree with Emmy that a 1day car rental would be Nice to drive around th lake mead area.
Consider a day trip to the Grand Canyon if you have not been.

        Enjoy Pam!

Its true about the tickets....Other than my tickets to see Bette Midler, I purchased all my tickets while in Vegas. I was able to get greatly reduced/half-price tickets a few days out, for all the shows we wanted to see.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I enjoyed Freemont Street as well - definitely go in the evening for the light show - you only need 30 minutes to see it so maybe combine it with a dinner resie/show in the area.

Yes GrayFal, this is same day to about 3 days in advance. They have multiple locations, though some locations close and some new ones open fairly frequently.
Here is their $2 off coupon.
They also have dining discounts, we even got Rio buffet 2 for 1 once, also Monte Carlo buffet 2 for 1.
Buying tickets online or at the box office is usually a waste of money.

Another great not very well known restaurants we found are inside the Tuscany casino (on Flamingo road): Cantina (Mexican) and Marilyn (American). If you pick up the coupon book in some strip casino, there is usually 2 for 1 coupon there for those restaurants. They both are great, with this coupon you can get two gigantic burrito plates for ~$12 which is a great deal. We always enjoy going there.

We saw it too in the evening, Pam. What you see on Frank's clip is on the ceiling inside the covered mall and you want to see it once.

We had a car but took the bus from the Marriott Grand Chateau (bus stop very close) as we had no idea how bad parking would be downtown. We also combined it with a dinner in walking distance from that place so walking is easier. The restaurant was recommended by a TUGger but I forgot the name. There are several there to choose from.

You will be busy just to see many casinos on the strip. Some are incredible as well as the shows. You will have to do it in the evening when it is cooler. You have never seen so many lights. I really like Las Vegas. We do not gamble but go to the shows.

Go and see Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire, if you rent a car for a day. The Hoover Dam is a very interesting tour even for a woman. We took the hard hat tour once, if they still have it. They show you a little bit more as we normally take the standard one when we have company.

We took a plane ride to the Grand Canyon because it is quite far to do in a day but there are bus tours too and this one stops at the Hoover Dam so that tour is included in the price. If you go on your own, you have to pay to see it too.

                I am excited for you!

You will have an amazing time! We love Fremont Street, but as Pat said, you need to go at night. The light show is incredible and there is some excellent talent performing as you stroll along. If you are lucky, the saxaphonist will be there. He is great.

Parking downtown is not a problem if you use valet parking at one of the casinos. Whenever we go downtown, we always use valet parking at the Golden Nugget which is a great location. Parking is free but you should tip them $2 or $3 when you pick up your car.

Pam. you are in for a great time. When in June are you going to be there? I am toying with going to Vegas in June for the wrestling convention (CAC) but don't know how I'd feel running into Al. Probably not going tho we'll see. I say Freemont St is a must , but do it at night or don't go. shaggy

My dates are June 14-21, 2014.

Thank you all for your input, much appreciated. I am pretty exciting, sounds quite awesome.. Tad overwhelming..LOL

Will go later in late afternoon /might to Freemont street as suggested...my friend wants to do some new ride Flyzilla or such. sort of like a zipline that is there, yet to be completed I believe. Not me, I shall stay planted on ground, afraid of heights.

Neither of us are gamblers...I enjoy a few minutes of slots so very little on gambling, shows, sights, sounds, lights, fun...no swimming for me..can do that on my Mexico vacations, shopping, shows, drinks, eating/dining etc.. We have good seats already paid for , for the shows and my friend is happy with them so I am okay with that, only live once.. and who knows how often I shall go there...not fond of flying as some of you know. I am excited though..very excited..
