Car rental

I am planning on either renting a car in the US and driving it into Canada or renting a car in Canada and driving to the US. I currently plan to return the car to wherever I rent it from. Has anyone done this? Which way and what, if any, problems, did you have. We are US citizens.

I flew into Buffalo and drove to the Falls and over a weekend trip. Np problems but that was 25 years back.

I did U.S. into Canada (Seattle to Vancouver) a few years ago. No problems. In fact we got a nicer/larger car than we paid for as they needed to get that car back to Vancouver. I rented one way.
