The proximity to Chechnia, the graft and the location spell a prediction of near disaster.

To me this reeks of a socialist workforce. The attitude is " I get paid the same as the other schmucks so why put out ". This will end up being the attitude of many of the American laborers when they realize that they are penalized for working too hard.

This is also the attitude of the Rusian Armed Forces for the most part. Many only join as they have no prospects and are just as lazy as the labourers.

My veterinarian has a sister who works for the network, she posted:

I'm so sad to read the following words that my sister wrote in an email. She is in Sochi doing television for the Olympics. She writes .....

"There are dogs wandering the streets wild. They have been getting less obvious and I have been told that they are being gathered up and put down. SAD…I heard that some of the locals are putting collars on some so they look like they belong to someone. I heard that a dog entered Olympic Stadium during a rehearsal. Supposedly would be a HUGE embarrassment to the government if these dogs are wandering around…so…they are being killed off."

I want to tell her to bring a few home to me.
            Breaks my heart.

OMG, I'm agreeing with tonyg. Hopefully some good will come out of all the money that's being poured into there, and all the fellowship and goodwill that can come with events like this.

Did Putin forget to order the crowds?

Spence, there is always a pre-Olympic clean-up. Sochi and Athens culled a lot of dogs. The Beijing cat removal was huge, (reportedly 500 000), the government ran a campaign warning of the diseases cats carry and ordering residents to help clear the streets of them, that sped things up. Other places (London, Atlanta, Salt Lake City) sweep away the homeless, the sex workers and other marginal groups.
