Citi to be Exclusive American Airlines AAdvantage Credit Card Issuer
AAdvantage and US Airways Dividend Miles to Combine in 2015
By Paul Riegler on 11 February 2014
American Airlines and Citigroup announced that Citi will be the exclusive issuer of new AAdvantage frequent flyer program credit cards following the integration of the AAdvantage program with US Airways Dividend Miles.
American Airlines merged with US Airways in December and the surviving frequent flyer program will be run under the AAdvantage name. The two programs are expected to be combined in 2015.
Barclays Bank is the current issuer of US Airways Dividend Miles credit cards.
American and Citigroup have been partners on the AAdvantage program since 1987.
Starting in March, the Citi Executive/AAdvantage World Elite MasterCard will be the only U.S. credit card that offers full and complimentary membership benefits at the airline’s Admirals Club lounges. Cardholders have access to almost 40 Admirals Clubs as well as 19 US Airways Clubs.
