I really dislike spirit
At first glance they appear cheaper then other airlines but once you add their fees, I find them to be higher then normal airlines.
And reading in the attached article that they put 178 seats in a plane all the others put 150 seats really seals the deal for me.

We stopped flying Allegiant several years ago. All the fee's add up and they're not any cheaper than the mainline carriers. I'm not certain if Allegiant is still considered a charter carrier but, at one time they were. Their only obligation if they decided to leave you're market was to refund you ticket price. There use to be news articles about Allegiant leaving travelers hanging and having to pay last minute one way fares to get home. That alone is enough to scare me off flying AllegiantOur timeshare and other photo's at http://dougp26364.smugmug.com/

We travel light, don't care where we sit, and don't have to board first. Never pay more than $80 each way.
They turned a 2-day/motel stay trip into two and a half hours. We can fly and rent a car for less than we can drive.

I have had this same conversation on another forum for the last couple of years. It seems like you either fly Allegiant and hope they never go out of business, or you don't want anything to do with them. So far, where we fly, there's enough of the first group. A flight has never been unpleasant and they have been very accommodating. On-time or near.
For a houseguest flying back from Florida in February, when there was one of those horrible storms up north, they gave her the option of not flying that day and flying any time in the next week, for no extra charge. It was a tough choice, but she forced herself to stay in 80-degree Florida for three more days. Plus, she switched from Punta Gorda to Clearwater, so we got to go eat shrimp at Shells.Last edited by JLB; 04-19-2014, 08:28 PM.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick
