  • Where would you recommend or return to?

Hi. I need ideas for our next big trip (about 7-8 wks) at the end of 2015 that I have to really starting booking now if I want to use timeshares. Open to hotels and rentals too though. I have been trying to convince my family to go to the US but they want other options as well. I'd love to hear others' holidays to get some ideas.
What places do you love and would return in a heartbeat?
Where have you been that you would recommend others visit and why?
Where did you enjoy your best holiday and why?

Syd, I would always return to Hawaii. Admitting that my travels have been limited, this is still one of my favorite places.

Acadia National park in Maine, the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Cape Cod keep calling me back.

Because of your winter weather itinerary for the US, I think West Coast USA would be great.

Starting in early December in San Francisco area, Yosemite, Redwood Forest, Monterey, Lake Tahoe.

Go down the coast toward Los Angeles...lots to see and do here. Could probably get you Marriott Newport Coast Villas.

Take a detour to Palm Springs, Joshua Tree State Park, Indian Canyon, that really cool revolving tram. So many great outdoor activities here.

Go back to Southern CA/Carlsbad,San Diego area. Just beautiful.

And finish up either in Mexico...SFX can get you the Grande Mayan Cabo or my fav Nuevo Vallarta or go to Hawaii as it is on the way home.

We always like to return to Hawaii, Kauai to be specific. When we cannot get there, our second choice is Lake Tahoe, South shore. We had a wonderful trip to St. Maarten almost ten years ago and would go back but it is such a long flight from the West coast. Not too many that I would not return to.

Would like to add my favorite return location is Paris/Barcelona but I know you have been and your timeframe is not exactly the best for these warmer weather locations.

I will always want to go back to Hawaii. And I would love to see more of Indonesia, though I know Bali is not as unusual for you Aussies, but what an incredible place. I've never been to Thailand and really want to go. You can probably start in California or western coast of Mexico, and do both before you get to Hawaii, then on to the rest on your way home. I am not including Europe due to your travel season as it's not ideal, but Barcelona is so wonderful I'd go back anytime and if I had as much time as you do I'd add on plenty of other European destinations.

At the end of the year? Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlan. If you ski, then yes - Lake Tahoe. GrayFal's itinerary is good, except I would skip Palm Springs (just not my favorite place).

I included Palm Springs because of the nice weather and all the great outdoor activities and an abundance of really nice sleep 8 timeshares....even 5 days would be nice there.

And the side trip to Lake Tahoe for skiing/winter sports. 3 day/2 nights would work there and she could get Worldmark south shore 3BR unit for the two nights

I'd second Barcelona & Madrid and add Andalucia.
There are several nice timeshares in Southern Spain.
We stayed at Marriott Marbella and did day trips all thru Southern Spain and into Africa and Gibraltar.
Lots to see and do and very cheap.

I'd also try adding a Mediterranean cruise that leaves from Barcelona since you are coming from so far away.
You could easily spend 3 weeks there if you added a cruise to your itinerary.
Just don't try Costa Cruises. My ship sank a week before I got there.
