If I want to redeem my AE Membership Rewards points for Delta SkyMiles for two tickets. Do I need to open a separate SkyMiles account for both my wife and myself or can I get both tickets through one account?

After reading Award travel rules, I believe I only need one Skymiles account and can transfer all the points into it. Am I correct in that assumption?
    Thanks,

Thanks for that link, Pat. Guess I should start reading my mail because both of our accounts were eligible for registration.

        Thanks,
Yup, you can "buy" tickets for others out of your account. I do this all the time for family and friends with my UA account. The upside with doing this is that the tickets are all on the same PNR if you're traveling together, so changes/irrops/problems are usually easier to sort out...

          Iceeu2 or Pat,
How did you know if your account qualified for registration for the Delta bonus miles. If I got any email from American Express I deleted it without reading.

When I applied for the Delta Sky Miles card and put the number into the registeration window, it just said thanks for registering.

          Thanks
          Dale

I registered for this bonus, and transfered miles from Amex to Delta. My miles posted right away, however the bonus did not. I have a reservation on hold so I may have to transfer more miles if the bonus doesn't post. I guess there is no way of knowing if they will post eventually of if they will say I was not eligiable even though they let me register. I am booking four 30,000 tickets so the difference is significant.

The Bonus miles can take up to 8 weeks to post to your account. Unless I do this well in advance I always put the correct miles that I need for the trip to use. Once my extra free Bonus offer comes in that is gravy for the next trip.

BTW This morning I received an email from www.points.com , Amex rewards has just joined points.com. If you are a member of points.com this might give you more flexibility with your Amex points.

Big Frank, I got a temporary cleaning up the site when I clicked on the point.com link you provided.

In a nutshell, what is points.com and is it beneficial?

I joined it first off because It keeps all of my airline FF account #s for my self and my family. Then it updates all of my FF accounts to show me what miles are in which and what the current totals are.
I have not done any promotions with them but I might take them up on a bonus offer if it is something I could make use of.

I called Amex Rapid Rewards today and was told the milege bonus promotion was sent out earlier this year and signup for it expired on 4/30/06. So even though we registered on the Delta Skymiles account for the bonus I would not expect it if not registered for it by the deadline with Amex. I didn't register previously so guess I am out of luck. Oh well there is always next time......

                        2. Transfer a minimum of 10,000 Membership Rewards points to your SkyMiles account. Call 1-800-AXP-EARN (800-297-3276) if you are unable to transfer points via the web. Be sure to complete eligible transfers between July 15 and August 15, 2006.
The reply you received was illogical. Why would a registration period end 3 months before one could take action on the promotion and why would the promotion still appear on their web site? Of course, after substantial experience, I've found little logic in anything airlines and credit card companies do

                        Adding:

                        Miscellaneous:
Refer Delta representatives to G*9736/35 or American Express representatives to E797:0001. Other restrictions may apply. Offer subject to change without notice. This offer may not be combined with any other promotional offers
Be sure they are looking at the same promo as your are...

When I called them that is the information I gave the rep I talked to on the phone. So I don't know. I did not see the promotion offer on the Amex website just when I used the link you had posted for Delta.

I don't believe I am now reading this email, only 1 hour after transferring points to Delta, fromAMEX. Do you think I can still get the promotion?

I just spent 1 hour on the telephone, and still do not have an answer. I called AMEX to inquire if I would be receiving the bonus points since I did not mention the promotion this morning. The agent told me to call Delta. I called and spoke with a rep. from the sky miles department. I was told I needed to speak to someone from the promotions dept. This guy had me on for 40 minutes. He gave me every stupid response there was, none of them answering my question: would I receive this promotion without asking for it when I had already called earlier in the day. He was pulling up every promotion he could find on the computer, and had me on hold while he read them. I was sooo frustrated. Besides, I really felt that I might have been reaching some office in India. I could hardly understand anything they were saying. It finally came down to that the rep. suggested I call customer service. I guess that's next. Will update.

Here's my update. The rep. I just spoke to in customer service said that I need the promotion code from the email I received. However, I never received an email, I am just trying to get this promotion because of the information that has been shared here.
