  • Which airline you travelled on this year had best / worst service?

Which airline that you travelled on this year had the best service in the air? Which had the worst?

The airlines I have travelled on this year were:
    American Airlines
    US Air
    Austrian Airlines
    British Airways
    Lufthansa
    Turkish Airlines
    Aer Lingus
    TAP Air Portugal
    Alitalia
    TAROM Romanian airline
    Air Moldova

(upcoming: LOT Polish airline and International Air Ukraine)

For best service it was a tie between British Airways and Turkish Airlines

For worst service, it was a tie between Aer Lingus and Alitalia.

This year only one trip, to Italy.
      United Express (Skywest)
      Lufthansa
      United
      Air Dolomite

      Lufthansa was outstanding
United was a very distant last.

This year was American, Cayman Air and Southwest.
Honestly I personally had pretty good service on all 3.

The call center for Cayman has limited hours though and they cancelled my flight and rebooked us on a day I didn't want to go, but they did reschedule me again when I caught the change.
My friend never got her email showing the change but luckily my email alert made us call in and sure enough they had rescheduled her too.

I don't usually care for Southwest anymore but this year having to use their handicap services made it bearable.

Cayman was the same, good handicap service but very disorganized at the gate and they seem to just decide as they go.
Not a real big deal since I live so close to Cayman but sure was a pain for the people going to the Northeast who I am sure missed their connections.

Hopefully next year will be a better flying year.

Although I have flown quite a bit this year, the flights have all been on JetBlue and United domestic and caribbean destinations.

The in-flight service was about the same on both carriers nothing stood out either way.

The ground service at the airport was superior for United, twice making no charge changes in my favor at the airport. I enjoy talking to JetBlue on the phone, which has happened twice due to schedule changes on their part and once on my part. All were resolved to my benefit.

this year, several Delta, Southwest, USAir, AirTran....absolutely no problem with any of them, and Delta went out of their way for me when I flew to my very sick Mom.

For us the best was first class American Airlines on a newer aircraft on a 5 hour flight. American Airlines is a Alaska Airlines mileage partner which is our regular service from our airport.

Hawaiian and US Air. Hawaiian had outstanding service, including free wine with the meal.

Southwest, Jetblue, and Delta. All were fine. Tried to fly Delta one other time, but the cancelled my flight way in advance. The one they wanted to re-book me on did not work with the scheduled I needed so they refunded me the money.

I have a friend who is very upset about the American/Delta merge...he hates American customer service.

Actually AA is merging with US Air, under US Air's management. DL merged with NW under DL's management. UA merged with CO under UA management. In each case, the management of the merged airline was from the least customer friendly of the pair, which has been shown in the gutting of DL's and UA's ff programs. So far AA has come out okay, but I am concerned about what the US management now in control might do in the future.

All of the mergers have reduced competition, which is not good for consumers. If we had to have mergers, I would like to have seen the relatively customer friendly CO and NW get together under NW management, and the two least customer friendly, DL and US get together under US management (that one came close to happening).

I would love to see Ryan Air fullfill its ambition to set up an affiliate in the US, which would give them all some real competition on fares. Ryan Air is not great on customer service, but you get what you pay for. In Europe their presence, along with EasyJet and WizzAir and others keeps the legacy airlines in line on fares.
