I am looking for a good app that I can use for keeping a journal that has the capability to transfer the information to my home computer for editing and keeping. It would be great if the app could be used on more than one smart phone, that way my wife and I could use it and merge notes.

You might try Evernote.

The WordPress app is good too but that's more if you're posting online. I haven't tried Evernote but I've heard good things. Is it a private or public journal you're writing?

I use Dropbox for documents that I would like to modify and access at multiple locations.
