What do you know, we have been to 11. Of course, it helps that we both grew up in Southern Calif and love to try different places in Hawaii. I was surprised that none of the Caribbean beaches made the list.

There were no Caribbean beaches because the list was of US beaches.

I have only been to 6, maybe 8 if I stretch it

And the only "northern" beach is ocean city MD????

Maybe they should call this the best tourist beaches

I thought I saw Ogonquit ME on the list. Now I really hate having turned back that week I had on hold but hard to be on the left coast and Maine at the same time.

I've got 12. I've been to almost none of the FL beaches, oddly enough. I am also surprised that only three northeast beaches made the list, and I would NOT put Ogunquit beach on my list of best northeast beaches, not even close. Race Point is pretty impressive, though, imho. Still, I'd have to agree with Grayfal that so many of these are tourist spots (Lawren, that's how I felt about Ogunquit beach, btw -- I love the town but the beach was super wide and very crowded).

Still surprised that none of the Long Island NY or Jersey Shore beaches made it….I have not been to that particular beach on Cape Cod, Race Point…but many of the beaches on the Cape are beautiful.

For those surprised, or who disagree, consider the source . . . Tripadvisor.

Someone could favor a beach for no reason that applies to beaches. Maybe a great hot dog stand, or, they met their true love there, or got divorced there, or . . . .

Now, when Dr. Beach grades beaches, it is because of the beach.
