So I finally got around to downloading the Uber app on my phone and used it for the first time last night since I was going to deep Brooklyn late at night and wanted to be sure to be able to get a ride back. Now I have a code good for a free ride up to $15 if you become a new customer (need to sign up, download the app and then use the code for your first ride).

I know many people especially in the tri-state already have the app, but it's a nice way for visitors to check it out if you're interested. It's also good all over the country (wherever Uber has a presence, obv).

You can also use Uber to call a yellow cab now (in NYC), btw. Uber charges $2 for the dispatch, which turned out really well for me last night; Uber was on surge pricing with a 40% surcharge (often happens on Saturday nights in the city) so I just ordered a yellow cab with the app, used my credit card in the cab as always, and paid Uber a well worth it $2 to have a yellow cab pull up to my remote location within 4 minutes.

my son had that code and it worked great. we took the trolley from Solara Surfside, we were told it was a 15 minute round trip. After close to an hour, the driver got off and went to dinner. the map showed we were a third of the way around the loop. my son called Uber and they came right away, and got us back to the resort in about ten minutes. that was the night the Uber driver went on a killing spree in Michigan the code is only for first time users.
