  • Another Rental Car Thread

Anyone got any idea why rental cars in Florida would be a little pricey Aug 15- Sep 1?

I would think the summer rush would be over.

We can fly for $115 RT, but rentals cars are starting at $200/week.

Put your car rental into Autoslash.com and see what rate they find for you.

I've tried autoslash and it worked for me once. That was for a rental in San Diego. The rest of our rentals we've gotten through Costco and they've had the best prices. I've found there is a "sweet spot" when the pricing goes down, and then it goes back up again. I'm never sure when that is, so I keep checking.

After I've gotten a good price with Costco I'll register that with autoslash. As I said only once have they beat the Costco rate.

The jury is out on Autoslash. I could not give me an immediate answer, so took the info and is going to get back to me.

          That's different.

Their lowest is $453. I'll go check some others, to compare.

              Hotwire is $502

              Enterprise, with a 15% Promo Code eausp15 is $466.

Still high for 2 weeks at Endosummer. Where are those "Car Rentals at $10.95 a day" when you need one?

This morning, Enterprise with the 15% off code is the lowest @ $435.62. They were the lowest for the dates that the code applied, but it only applied to two of our possible combinations.

For a shorter stay, Enterprise with the code is $245 and Hotwire is $274.

Autoslash: Check them out on Facebook. The way I usually use them is I go to Costco travel site, book the car I want and then go to Autoslash. This is usually about 2weeks to 10 weeks before my trip. Autoslash then searches for lower rates including deals, coupons, specials, etc. When they find anything lower they notify me. It is a free service.
In our case they have saved us money in approx. 6 out of 7 times. I believe our biggest savings was $255 on a 15 day rental. They have been easy to deal with and cancel the old rental and book the new when I ask them to do this.
I would not recommend them if I ever had a problem with them. Since it is a free service I see nothing ever to lose.
I live to vacation and vacation to live.

OK, I will check autoslash again, and compare with Enterprise:

                        Rental 1: Enterprise: $245 Autoslash (Hertz): $257

Rental 2: Enterprise: $435 Autoslash (Thrifty and Dollar): $453

What airport and what size car? I'm seeing mid $300 for your dates at Costco for Fort Myers and Fort Lauderdale. That's for 17 days.

I wound up doing it the old-fashioned Priceline bid. 8/18-25, Economy, $20/day, $199 total. Hertz
