Unless I'm mistaken, vintner was talking about using Hertz. They are one of the ones "listed below".

Off-site locations of the same company are often lower than their airport locations because the off-site location is not paying airport fees.

I've had this same dilemma myself before, trying to figure out if the savings at an off-site location is worth the cab fare and hassles.

I've even had it between two nearby airports, where one (normally the larger one) had more competitive car rental than the other. Clearwater and Tampa. Sanford and Orlando.

Not the same problem, but because we arrived on New Year's Eve one year, it was a lot less expensive to stay in a nearby hotel the first night, and pick the car up New Year's Day back at the airport.

Today's returning-home day.

Fried shrimp at Shells in Tampa for lunch, and steak at Texas Roadhouse in Missouri for dinner.
