finding wheelchair accessible rooms with RCI

I am looking for RCI owners who are in wheelchairs to compile a list of ADA rooms, this would save time rather than calling each location .
List could include name of resort, actual room number, etc

New to this site, we own a week at Eastern Slopes Inn, North Conway,NH which is a real ADA accessible suite (148,149). Would love to find other rooms without having to call each location and asking many questions, any stairs? are doors wide? roll in shower? How many beds? Although there are standards for ADA compliance many older locations are not quite there yet.

Forget the older independent resorts unless you know them well and can get II or RCI to give
you the unit number which they are reluctant to do.
They will NOT guarantee anything.
Some of them will try their hardest but with strict inventory control they may not move you.
Timesharing is best done with the bigger names if you must have a true ADA room and not just
a walk on unit.

Stick with the big names and do it on the phone only.
Then call and reconfirm and show up early to your reservation.
I'm not in a wheelchair but do have issues with some stairs since I walk with crutches.
That is the only way I've found to be absolutely sure.

I think the older resorts don't have to be ADA compliant since technically they are not a hotel but a "private" residence.
So if you want to be absolutely sure, your best bet is to call and buy the retrade insurance if it's with II.

Only trade into Hyatt, Hilton, Disney, Worldmark (some of them), Wyndham (most of them), Bluegreen (some of them)
Vistana, Westgate, InnSeasons, Marriott, etc. I have had the best luck with these systems.

Good luck to you. It's not easy being disabled and traveling because you have so many extra logisitics to cover but in the end it's worth it.

I google-studied this question awhile back. I can't remember how it went, but I do remember there was some question as to whether ADA applied to timeshares, since timeshares are, essentially, privately-owned. But I do seem to recall that after the question was bashed back and forth in the Courts, it was determined that timeshare resorts are subject to ADA.

The rule also provides guidance about the factors that must be present for a facility that is not an inn, motel, or hotel to qualify as a place of lodging. The final rule limits obligations for units that are not owned or substantially controlled by a public accommodation that operates a place of lodging. Such units are not subject to reservation requirements relating to the "holding back" of accessible units nor are they subject to the rule's barrier removal and alterations requirements if the physical features of the guest room interiors are controlled by their individual owners rather than by a third party operator."

I think walk in bath tubs are best for disables. You can search for hotels which provide this service. Walk in bathtubs are provided with various facilities and features which are suitable for elderly people and disables. You can read over internet about various benefits of these bath tubs.
