As if it wasn't already easy enough to find competitive, discounted vacation lodging on the Internet, something that was not available when we bought our first timeshares, and, for that matter, not even thought about yet, here's a way to compare them all on one site.

Not vouching for it, just mentioning it:

Vacation Rentals: Apartments, Homes & Beach Houses for Rent - HomeToGo
The World's Largest Vacation Rental Search Engine.
10,426,934 properties from over 250 vacation rental providers

(I have not provided a link out of respect for this site. I assume y'all can manage to do that. )

The first year Internet usage was researched/recorded was 1997, and only 18% of US households had it. I guess prior to that one just had to believe what timeshare weasels told you.

I remember our first home computer, $2700 for a bunch of junk that we didn't need and never used, but no one knew what to tell us we needed. We had doodied up Win '95 they called Win '98. I still have it, and our AOL dialup (disabled) is still on it. I probably mailed 1/4 million items with labels made on a dot-matrix printer.

The first time I used a computer, meaning writing programs and waiting in line to "punch" those "IBM" cards, so I could wait in line to turn them in, then come back a few days later to pick up the printout, and debug it, was about 1969.

Thanks for bringing this up. I haven't heard of hometogo. Their site looks pretty good.

Heh, I need to get with it. The prices for places (I recognized a few) I looked at when buying my place in Oregon are, well, breathtaking. A grand a week? Whoa. Guess I need to set my place up on that web site. Thanks for the tip!
