  • cork screw in your carry ons

I know after 9 -11, they wouldn't let you bring a cork screw in your carry ons, but I thought I heard that that has changed.

    What is the rule?

    TIA

I believe the Homeland Security web site has a link to an up to date list of what is allowed and what isn't allowed.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

    “You shouldn't wear that body.”

There are just so many good one-liners for this one

I think I best leave it alone.

I've had a corkscrew confiscated, not because it was a corkscrew, but because it had a little foil-cutter blade.

My friend had a $100 torch cigar lighter taken away. Rather than to give it up. He took the lighter and hid it out in an open spot where no one looks. He hid it you know where the applications are for a credit card right out in the open he took it and placed it behind the applications. Well guess what it was still there when he returned.

Well it turned out that they took my corkscrew.

They offered to mail it home for me for $10 but I said no.

They said the website was wrong. TSA does allow corkscrews but they don't allow corkscrews with the little knifes.

I should have remembered this thread while traveling on Ryan air to Venice a few days ago. They tried to take away my cork screw and a cigar cutter but I had enough time to check a small carry on for free so it got saved.
BTW The airlines will allow you to check your carry on for free even if you have reached your 2 bag limit.

Maybe it's me, but I can't understand the logic TSA uses to determine what can or cannot be taken on board a flight in carry-on. Okay - some things are obvious, like a gun. But why are corkscrews, screwdrivers less than 7 inches long, and other tools allowed. These all could be used to inflict bodily harm.

On a recent trip to Hawaii, I carried a small, 2 lb. dumbbell weight in my carry-on - needed it for some physical therapy exercises and I knew my checkin luggage was at the 50 lbs. limit. I got the weight to Hawaii okay, but couldn't get it past TSA in Kona. Luckily the nice lady at Aloha found a box so I could ship my weight to Honolulu. When we flew to the mainland, I made sure I packed it in checked baggage. Again - what's the logic here? I suppose I could bonk someone on the head with it, but I'm sure people carry heavier things in their carryon that could be used in a similar manner.

You have really answered your own question in the first sentence. Do you really expect to be able to use the word 'logic' in a sentence referring to the workings of a government department?
