Honestly to me it's just a dilapidated old city.
It has the potential to be alot more and hopefully one day
they'll appreciate what they have or get a cash infusion to
fix the place.

I first went about 25 years ago and hated it.
It was full of crime and everything was in disrepair.
I was hoping Katrina would have given them a cash infusion but
after going back about 2 years ago not much has changed.
I did like it a little better this time since I stayed with a local
in his house and he took us around the city during Mardigras
but as a tourist I was not impressed.

Give me a room with a view on a nice beach and I'm a happy camper.
Originally posted by oliverbierhoff View PostAs per my trips in 2017, I would suggest you all to visit, Kyoto in Japan, South Korea and Golden triangle in India with Udaipur. I gave one week for Japan and S-Korea and anther week in India (Delhi-Agra-Ranthambore-Jaipur-Udaipur and Ranakpur). Plus I am doing research on Bali and Malaysia as they have become some popular tourist attractions this year.
Originally posted by Carolinian View PostOn New Orleans, I have been 5 or 6 times over the years and enjoyed it, but the more I read about crime there, the more I have questioned going again. Then their really ugly local shananigans with their history over the past year has been a real turn off..
I didn't feel any worse there than I do here at home in Miami.

I wish I could go back but my health has me limited.
It's so nice and lots to see and do and the food is amazing.
And timeshares galore in Southern Spain so it's amazingly cheap.

Hi, since I am in Asia for last 2 years, here are a list of some amazing tourist attraction which you would have never seen or heard before.
1. Hampi
Image rights with me...
This city is in Karnataka, and was once the capital of 16th century Vijayanagara empire, which even the businessmen of Rome Italy, had said that it;s the second most richest country in the world. Well, those Italians, will never consider them as second, so in my view, Vijayanagara empire was the richest empire in the world in 16th Century. To reach here, you need to land at Hyderabad or Bangalore Airport, and then either catch a train for Hospet (20 km from Hampi) or hire a cab.
2. City of Jaipur and it's palace and massive fort
This image is of Amber Fort.
Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan, and is just 275 km from New Delhi, India. This city is heaven for those travelers who wants to experience the life of Indian maharaja's. Here one must visit the City Palace, which is still a property run by local Maharaja, and the fort of Amber which is massive. Plus, one can book room in a hotel, which use to be a palace of a king or his ministers, like Samode Haveli, Raj Palace and my favorite Rambagh Palace.
3. Udaipur's Lake Palace
In my experience, if one is landing at Delhi Airport, and wants to plan a week long holiday tour, then he or she must visit Delhi, Jaipur, Agra (well you got to see Taj Mahal) and then spend 2 days in Udaipur. Udaipur is in southern Rajasthan and is in the middle of New Delhi (that's the capital of India) and Mumbai, which is refereed as the financial capital of India. Now if you are one of those people, who collect all the copies of Bond movies, then you have already seen the Lake Palace of Udaipur. Lake Palace was 3-4 century old palace, standing in the middle of a lake, and came in the bucket list of western travelers after the screening of 1983 James Bond movies - Octopussy, Almost 60% of the movies was filmed here and in many other palaces in Udaipur. You can more details about Udaipur Delhi Agra Jaipur tours from Santram Holidays Pvt Ltd, Golden triangle tours. Or buy a book from Lonely Planet India, have shared a link below.
Plus, these three are the tip of the iceberg of tourist heavens in India. You can also look at sites in Jaisalmer, Jodhpur (been here twice), hill stations of Srinagar and three more which are 60 km away. And I would suggest all to check Lonely Planet India book to get the best details our there on India tourism.

Now I think I could go any time of year because I don't plan on partying all night long, maybe just until 1 am or 2 am at most and light on the alcohol. I doubt I would be interested in the food. Watching drunk people doing stupid things is always kind of fun. I think bayou fishing or alligator hunting might be fun.

Puerto Vallarta is our favorite. Because it is our family's favorite place, we own a week at the Buganvilias and 2 weeks at Grand Luxxe in Nuevo and we go there in November each year and one week is always Thanksgiving week. We can book simultaneously or multiple weeks depending on the schedules of others.Phyllis
