I saw that. I was very surprised by the very low rating Days Inn got. Right now it's our "go to" place when we stay overnight before a flight out of the Albuquerque airport. Their service is WONDERFUL, and the accommodations are fine. Never had an issue with cleanliness. We started staying there when we found they allow you to park there free for a week (and then charge $1/night after that), provide shuttle service pretty much on demand 24/7, and their rates are reasonable. I've also stayed at a Days Inn in Vancouver, BC (again near the airport) and found it to be perfectly fine as well.

I think Days Inn's are independently owned, so it may be hit or miss with each one.

You are probably right. I've only had experience with these two and I probably wouldn't have tried the one in Albuquerque if I hadn't had a good experience in Vancouver.

I've stayed in some really dumpy ones and some nice ones.
I guess it depends on who owns it.
The one in New orleans wasn't too bad but the ones in
Orlando are terrible. Never again for Orlando.
          It's definitely hit or miss.

I prefer consistency so usually pay a little more and stay
in Fairfield Inn or Hampton Inn. Any of those better chains
usually have a more consistent experience. Not sure about
the parking deals though as I never have to park and fly
unless I just leave it at the airport.

We now pretty much spend the night near the Albuquerque airport the night before a flight as our flights are generally at 6:00 or 7:00 a.m. Until we "discovered" this wonderful Days Inn we had tried Hilton Garden Inn, Best Western (adequate) and Ramada (pretty bad). I generally would look for a place with decent rates. Also we had never worried about the ability to park and fly as we always used a lot near the airport (which also increased our costs). I did ask at Ramada once time and they did say we could leave our car, but they also admitted they didn't monitor the lot. Since Albuquerque has a high crime rate, and many times it's the parking lots at hotels, we opted not to leave the car there. Days Inn's lot is right in front of their entrance doors, they have cameras and the monitor it.

I like Hilton Garden Inn if I'm flying on my own. I don't have a car as dh will drop me off, but he usually does it in the afternoon so I need to get dinner. Hilton Garden Inn has a restaurant on site so I don't have to leave the premises.

There is a wide selection of hotels available near the airport, so if the Days Inn starts to fail us we will have other places to choose from.

There is a Days Inn in Uncasville, CT, a mile away from the Mohegan Sun Casino complex. Their rates are pretty cheap, and they shuttle you to and from the casino in a stretch limo. It is clean and I stay there when I am in the area. However, I have been in some pretty dumpy Days Inns.

A stretch limo. I'm impressed. Our Days Inn uses a small SUV. But again, what I like is that their shuttle is on demand, 24/7.
