  • Thoughts on the NEW Norm when or if we resume travel?

One day, sooner than later, we will, or some will travel back to PV and other places. My husband and I had a phone discussion on this yesterday.

What do you think will be the new "norm" for travel, restaurants, so on, when things open up again, meaning travel, and mandates.

I am a Realist, he an optimist, and his take on the new norm was not as good as mine and actually depressing.

So, thought I would see what folks who have traveled to PV and Mexico think..

Ex: What will travel be like?

    Restaurants?

Gatherings, tours etc..any other info..Obviously all just supposition from folks.

I believe that masks will become the norm for people out in public. I think the restaurants will space tables further apart and limit the amount of patrons inside at one time. I also think that many people will be afraid to fly for a couple of years, and drive-to vacation spots will become more popular.

I think for a long time coming we will not be anywhere close to what we were. Masks will be worn and gathering's will slow down but this is not going away soon. Too many stuid people not thinking they will get it, I am wondering come this July 4th is NYC going to set off fireworks with large crowds. I hope not.

I'm still planning my June trip to Maine, but I'm concerned if we will find a place for a pit stop and if that pit stop will be safe. I've heard Maine will be beginning to open things up starting June 1.

I don't know if we are heading to Nuevo Vallarta this winter. I have made no reservations yet. Half of our group wants to go and the other half doesn't. The biggest concern is flying. It is hard to social distance cramed into an airplane.

That is very true. I have scheduled a vacay in Puerto Vallarta June 20th, driveable for me, but not sure if I am going, for various reasons plus many areas the roads ar enot open yet to get there due to Covid Restrictions.

Fingers crossed on a July vacay and that DH can fly here. sigh

I am planning to head to Bavaria on July 3rd if they have the borders open to the USA by then. Not canceling unless the borders remain closed

Looks like my Maine trip in June is off due to Maine regulations. Next trip is now NH in July, hopefully.

We will be using our Outer Banks timeshare week for July 4th week. Our son and his family own a unit the same week and they will also be down. I am wondering about the restaurants, but at least with a timeshare we can cook in the units.

I keep hearing they are close to having a vaccine. I hear this on tv news. Then I also read in science articles that a vaccine will not work for covids. I am thinking the science people are right and news people are wrong. My foster mom is almost 85 and she caught covid 19 at a nursing home in March. She took the hydrocloriquine zpak treatment and was fine about 3 weeks later. My bet is treatment over vaccine becomes the fix.

We did make our reservations for Cabo !!!! Going fishing. I might be driving. So far there are about 10 - 16 of us going.

Glad it worked for your mom. There is so much exuberance and high anxiety riding on this Moderna company development so far. The very limited trial done so far is looking good. But more R&D is needed. If the trials don't work out hold on tight because the market will crash again. Yikes. I was getting really nauseous in March when it went into a tail spin. If the moderna vax doesn't work I sure hope one of the other vax in development will help cause this is really bad all around!

Thanks Billy. From what I have been reading, it really looks like any vaccine would likely have many problems. There are too many companies competing and the materials needed to manufacture mass quantities of vaccine are not available. Most manufactured items are now made to order so products like the medical grade glass are not stock items. It gets better, even the sand to make the medical grade glass isn't stock, its made to order.

I don't know if the market is connected to anything anymore. The only reason it has been some what stable is the Fed has been pumping it up. The Fed says they are committed to the market so I doubt any big crash is going to happen but its is likely some sectors will be wiped out.

The Feds actions have their own risks. There is simultaneously a risk of hyperinflation and hyper deflation, so it is hard to know how to prepare. I'm glad I laid in some silver when there was a lull in the market, but I wish I had some more gold right now. I am out of stocks completely. It is cash and precious metals, although I would also like to add another rental house or two if I can figure out what the real estate market is going to do. I think there will be a rise in foreclosures and loans will get harder to qualify for, and that might make it a buyers market.
