Oil as a renewable resource

Every since I was in grade school, I've been told that crude oil is a fossil fuel -- the result of decaying dinosaurs. This was always taught as a scientific fact, rather than theory (although it has never been proven, and there are holes in the theory).

I've always been suspicious of that explanation. I mean, how could there possibly be that many dinosaurs?

Now, I find out there is a credible, competing theory on the origin of oil. One which is far more logical in my opinion, and one which proposes that oil is in fact a renewable resource. Consider the implications....

Gas prices in our hometown of Murrieta CA are almost down to $2.00 /gal now. I paid $2.08 at our local Shell station last week.

I am starting to get a mixed picture. Last wkek not far from me, I paid $2.19. The station that is by my house was $2.25 but as of 4 days ago he raised it up to $2.35. Is gas going back up again?

I wish gas prices would drop to $2.00 per gallon maybe this could save the Ford Truck Assembly Plant in Norfolk, VA. Are you listening, all major oil companies, Ford stockholders and the Ford CEO?

I paid $1.99 Friday for unleaded regular in Montvale NJ.

Seems like gas prices have hit a range where ups and downs are minimal. I don't expect any noticeable movements until after the election unless something has a big effect on the price of crude.

The damage have been done the high cost of gasoline in the USA in the past two years will cost 100,000 's of thousands American jobs in the automobile industry and other related industries.

I hope the high profits will pay off for the oil industry. Just ask Ford and GM workers what the huge profits in oil did to the automobile industry.

The high cost of gasoline is NOT the cause of Ford, GM and Chrysler's problems. The Detroit 3 have been losing ground since the 70's. Toyota and Honda are doing great and are also providing many jobs for Americans. Both Toyota and Honda are building new plants in the US. Honda is building a new engine plant in Indiana. I was at my Honda dealer the other day and checked the point of origin of all their models. Every model, except for 2, were built in the US with very high US content. Only the Ridgeline which is built in Canada and the S2000 which is built in Japan were not built here. Neither of those models are high volume. Toyota also builds many of their vehicles here. The problem is that the Detroit 3 have not provided the vehicles that Americans want. Toyota, Honda and several other companies simply build better vehicles.
