We were thinking about going to Indiana next summer. I was looking on the web for information on what to do near French Lick Springs. I really couldn't find too much. Will be traveling with a 7-year old. Any suggestions.

What to do at French Lick
Here are my suggestions for a family with a seven year old. All are within about 1.5 hours of French Lick. Please forgive me if this is a double post, but I am not sure it went through the first time.
1. The bus tours given by the resort are excellent (as long as they still have the same tour guide, at least)
2. Visit Spring Mill State Park near Mitchell
3. Visit Holiday World (at Santa Claus, IN)
4. Visit the site of Lincoln's Boyhood home in Spencer County, near Dale
5. Play mini-golf, swim, play croquet, etc. (if open)
6. Take a tour of the West Baden restored hotel
7. Eat at the Schnitzelbank [spelling?] restaurant in Jasper
8. Tour a cave (Bluesprings, Marengo)
9. Go horseback riding
Let me know if you would like more information on any of these.

The French Lick Resort Hotel & Casino is scheduled to open in early November, so there will be a pool next summer. Also, Patoka Lake is nearby.
Things to do in the area include:- Take the French Lick Springs Villas bus tours.
- Visit the Indiana Railway Museum and take a ride on the train there.
- Tour the West Baden Hotel.
- Visit Holiday World and/or Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, IN.
- Visit the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial near Lincoln City, IN. The park service operates a recreation there of a farm of the 1820's.
- There are several caves that can be toured in southern Indiana -- Bluespring Caverns, Marengo Cave, Squire Boone Caverns, and Wyandotte Cave.
- Visit Spring Mill State Park.
- Visit the Falls of the Ohio State Park in Clarksville, IN, and look over the fossil beds there.
- Visit the Louisville Slugger Museum in Louisville, KY, and tour the factory.
Suggested food stops:- The Schnitzelbank Restaurant in Jasper -- enjoy the glockenspiel there.
- The Overlook Restaurant in Leavenworth, IN. The restaurant is on top of a bluff overlooking a horseshoe bend in the Ohio River.
- If you do not take the resort bus tour to the Amish area, then eat at the Gasthof Restaurant in Montgomery, IN. (This is the lunch stop on that tour.)
- The Black Buggy Restaurant in Washington, IN.
- The Moonlite BBQ in Owensboro, KY.
