Are you the renter or the rentee?
If you are the renter (meaning you will be staying in the resort), then you need to contact the resort to verify that the reservation is in your name. Pay via paypal if you can and make sure you have a rental agreement that specifies the details of the rental arrangement. Because if there is a problem, then you dispute the charge via paypal or your credit card company.
If you are the rentee (meaning you own the week and you are offering it for rent), then only accept paypal payments. Contact the resort to put the name of the renter on the reservation so that they can confirm it. And, draft a rental agreement that specifies the details of the rental arrangement. Send a paypal invoice that says this transaction is non-refundable except for circumstances outlined in the rental agreement.
That's it.

As the renter, the only thing I'd be worried about is that the reservation was really in my name and that the renter had the right to rent it. Before sending any payment I'd ask for a fax of the renter's reservation (up to you what to do if it's an II or RCI exchange). Then I'd pay a deposit pending putting the ressie in my name (owner's should be able to switch that, no problem). It can all be done in a day using fax/paypal.
