  • Hotwire question re: San Francisco airport hotels

We're going to be coming back from Mexico and have to overnight in San Francisco. Because we arrive late and depart early in the morning, I just want to stay at an inexpensive hotel at the airport.

    1. Is Hotwire the best place to check?

    2. I found one 3 star in "SFO Intl Airport North - Oyster Point". Where's that? Is that at the airport or outside the airport area? I don't believe I find out until I confirm the booking but I don't want to do that if it's not at the airport.

    Help.

Best place to look is www.biddingfortravel.com and then use Priceline.com to bid on a 4 or 5 star hotel. I had gotten the Westen St Francis and only paid about $50 a night for a $300 a night room. I would also PM Hoc as he knows this area better than anyone I know regarding using price line.

I would think Oyster Point might be a little out of the way from sfo. If you’re looking for someing closer I would be thinking of Burlingame CA.

When we have an early flight from SFO we stay at the La Quinta, which is in South San Francisco. Quiet, clean, and has a shuttle to the airport.

Oyster Point is about 10-15 minutes from the airport, mainly industrial. There's not much there. You might want to try Burlingame or Millbrae.

OTOH - if you're arrriving late and departing early, what difference does it make if there's not much there?

Actually, that might work to your benefit. Because that's largely a commercial/industrial area, those hotels are probably pretty light on occupancy during the weekends. So if the night you're looking for is a Fri, Sat, or Sun, you might be able to get a great price through Priceline. I've seen that in some of my trips to various locales, including the Bay area.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Why not stay right next to the airport? There are several choices right next to SFO. Just do a search for SFO hotels. You will come up with many sites and options.

Emmy, we're going at the end of Feb so I'm just doing some advance planning.

                      Got one

Just an update that I was able to get a 3* which turned out to be the Holiday Inn Airport for a bid of $45 plus fees. Not bad for a Saturday night early March stay.
