  • Rental Car - Denver Airport (DEN)

We are going to Avon, CO, February 9 - 17, 2007, and we are considering getting a rental car instead of taking the shuttle. Which is the best rental car agency to use? Any recommendations? Or do I need to check them out? Any codes for discounts?

I'm leaning toward the rental car so as to have plenty of freedom to roam.

    Thanks.

Some of the search engines you use for air, work just as well for cars. I got great rates with
    www.cheapoair.com
    And
    www.cheapair.com
    www.kayak.com

    You can also try www.Hotwire.com

        DEN Car Rental

I just made my reservation after checking out many websites and found that the deal that II Travel has with Hertz is the best rate for what I want! I like Hertz since I am #1 Gold member and will benefit greatly from this feature.

Someone had recommended II Travel elsewhere or over yonder in a post so it was very helpful!

          Many reservations later

I have made upwards of 6 reservations for a rental car and have finally settled on Advantage Rent A Car. They had a deal on a Caravan that I couldn't pass up. Even with the $10 / day ski rack it will cost me only $299 for the entire week!!!

I just looked again and I was off. It is actually $299.25 for the entire week.

What a good deal. I hope that it is worth it...

Have fun skiing! All of the rental car agencies here at DEN are a bus-ride away -- just look for the signs as you go outside from the baggage claim to see which "island" you need to go to meet your bus.

Also, take care driving to Avon. Depending on the roads, time of day and traffic, that can take anywhere from 2-4+ hours, but it is a pretty straight shot on I-70 so it is almost imposible to get off route. And downshift on those big hills -- don't ride those brakes all the way down!

Thanxxx for the advice. I've got most of the details down but do want to do some map quest searches to make sure I know how to get to I-70 and then how to get to our resort off I-70 when in Avon.

BTW - Do you know of any way to get discounted lift tickets for Vail / BC?
