  • Making special requests at a resort.

Just booked a week in Orlando thru an II getaway. I was wondering if it does any good to call the resort and request to be placed near a pool or such. TIA

Sometime it does as some will go out of there way to please but some have the rooms preassigned, Which resort is it that might help?

The resort is Mystic Dunes formerly the Wyndum Palms Resort.

I always call ahead and ask for what I think I might want, usually based on reviews, etc. I'm always extremely polite and if I don't get what I want, I haven't lost anything.

We have often been fortunate when we call about a week ahead to ask for something specific. One time at OLCC, we were put in the Tennis Villas when I requested it. We were very pleased.

I've called resorts directly to request specifics. Usually get what we'd like, and as bevvy5 points out, nothing ventured, nothing gained. It's your vacation, worth a shot!

I usually call 10 days ahead of time and make my requests, then call earlly morning the day of check-in. If I get to hotel early, I politely see if my request can be made, and tell them I do not need immediate check-in. Almost always get my request.

I've been very lucky getting my requests when exchanging. I asked for and received an ocean view room at Marriott's Newport Coast in SoCal when we stayed there in Nov 2007 & 2006 (not a unbelievable view but still a view)

and some resorts give you the unit # on your confirmation and THAT is THAT.

I'm finding that more and more resorts are not assigning units until check-in. When we first started exchanging, back in 1992, unit numbers were usually on the confirmation sheets. Now, however, that is the exception, rather than the norm, at least in our experience.

Yeah I noticed there was not a unit number assigned. I'll wait a couple've weeks and call. Thanks again to all that have replied....
