The bad news is that the station in Mennifee didn't stay down at $2.78 very long. I see where it is now up to $3.21. I wonder if they were trying to start a gas war. Meanwhile the Shell station on California Oaks in Murrieta has dropped to $3.14. There is a Shell station in Riverside at $2.98. Circle K on California Oaks in Murrieta is at $2.69.

I usually just check the Shell stations as that is the only gas that I ever buy. However, the price is not very important to us as we don't drive very much. We have only used a quarter of a tank in the past 2 weeks.

I have too---unfortunately, all the "cheap gas" is at least 5 miles out of my way. By the time I drive those 10 round trip miles, I've almost always burned more than I'm saving, plus the lost time.

Every once in a while, I have a destination near "cheap gas"---I've mostly learned where they are. If I'm in the neighborhood, I fill up, no matter where my gauge is.

We always pass most of the Shell stations at some time when we are out and about. The one we usually use is the closest one and is less than 2 miles away. It is often the cheapest as well though it really doesn't make any difference.

$2.71 this weekend in Concord, Ma. at Bursaw's. Cash only. First time I've filled up for under $45 in a long time.

A few locations around here are under $2.00 for regular. Must be the McCain and Obama campaigns subsidizing to get votes.

                Cheers

The Holiday station at the end of the block was selling regular for $2.17 that should put a gallon at Costco pretty close to $2/gallon.

Our Holiday on my drive to work was at $2.11. Since oil went up yesterday, don't know how long that will last unless oil drops today.

                          Fuel cost... why

Do you think lower price is because of the election?

Is this to gain votes one way or another?

Not sure, but I think the oil companies are selling gas at a much lower profit than diesel or home heating oil. The public can't see the price like they do at the pump(until winter), but it's built into anything transported. It costs less to make diesel than gasoline and diesel is more expensive.

We paid $2.67 a gallon at Tracy Cheveron today in N. Ca.

One good thing about high prices is I never thought $2.67 would seem cheap!
