  • Aloha Airlines quality?

I will be flying from Maui to Kauai this summer. The only airline I can find with a direct flight is Aloha Airlines. What are people's thoughts on this airline? I've only read bad reviews.

Does anyone know any other airlines that do this flight directly?

Get there real early, Like 4-5 hours before your flight. I am not sure if they have corrected the problem but it was a nightmare when I flew out of Maui on an inter island flight. The line to get to the counter went the entire length of the airport and around the corner.

We have flown Aloha Airlines out of Orange County on direct non-stop flights many times as well as ones that had connection (to get to LIH). We have always had a good experience and feel it is a good airline. And it it so much more convenient for us than going through LAX and/or HNL. We pay the extra fare to do it unless it is too far out of whack.

We have been on Continental, Hawaiian, Delta, and Northwest and they are nothing special with terrible schedules or connections via HNL.

United and American Airlines have direct non-stops and they are nice.

This summer will be the first time we will try ATA out of LAX...the price was too good this early for a non-stop flight to Maui.

        Frank,
The flight is at 9:25am. If we are there by 7:00am, should it be okay??

Also, does anyone know if there are other airlines that go directly from Maui to Kauai?

The problem is with there inter Island flights. They are the main ones and all of there inter island flights are on one line. If you miss your flight they will get you on the next one but that can be hours away. The lines start early so I would play it safe and get there for 6am. Now it might have gotten better since I was there 4 years back. Or it could have gotten worse which I do not think it is possible.

It is inter Island Maui that is a problem.

I've done interislands several times out of Maui without the problems Frank is describing.

I also believe that Hawaiian and Island Air fly Maui to Kauai, though Island flies smaller planes and has a two bags, 50 lb total weight (not 50 lb/bag) limit.

I suggest you go to Orbitz or kayak and do a lookup on your itinerary to see what your options are.

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                “You shouldn't wear that body.”

I had gone to Hawaiian Air's website. They seem to only do flights through Honolulu. I noticed Island Air today, but the planes would not accomodate our baggage needs.

It looks like Aloha Air is what we will take. Thanks for everyone's input!

Hee hee. OOOOOpppppss. I did not answer your question...sorry.

We have flown on Hawaiian and Aloha inter-island and they are all a cattle call. We usually take Aloha because they have flights that avoid HNL. Aloha also has a baggage restriction so be careful. We had to pay it once from Kauai to the Big Island. We could have repacked a few bags but we did not have the time.

We missed our flight out of Kauai on Aloha once because I was caught up watching an NFL game and then my dad got stuck in security because he had a hip replaced. We ended up taking the next 3 fights out two/three at a time as the flights seem to always be packed. It was not worth it.

Do not be late. If you have carry-on baggage then get in the front of the boarding line because the people who board last usually have to check most of their carry-on baggage.

Thanks for the info. I hope we can get there early enough!! We'll make sure to pack bags under 50 pounds!
