    Florida & Rental Cars

    Just booked into Ft Laud and out of Miami cause it was cheaper that way. Do car rental agencies in Florida still allow pickup at one intl. airport and dropoff at another? Is there an extra fee to do that? Also, what are the best/cheapest car rental companies for Florida, which seems much more pricey these days than yesteryear?

    TIA for any good tips!

    You can drop off at another airport as long as the company has spots in both. Some do charge more for dropping off at a different location.

    Try using Price line. I had gotten a great deal on a convertible using PL when I went to FL.

      Believe it or not I've never used PriceLine. But a convertible sounds bitchin so I may check it out. Thanks Frank!

        I checked out a Flyertalk National Car Rental Discount thread to get codes that beat our Emerald's Club rate all to heck. The codes worked just fine for our 12/20-1/6 rental, but if I recall right there was some discussion about whether the code we used was being renewed for 2007.

        We used a discount code and $40/week online coupon.

          Thanks for the ideas guys...but I decided against a rental car at the gouging prices I'm seeing online. In fact it will be easier to go straight from FLL airport to Miami Beach via shared limo. Here's the company where I just now booked our ressies: Airport Express and Tri-County Transportation (Price is only 18 bucks per person to South Beach from Ft Laud airport, right to the door of our hotel on Ocean Drive.)

              Carol sorry I saw this late. You already found my recommendation!

              We are also using that company for S Beach from FLL at the end of the month. We will rent a car for our return as we won't get smacked with the on-airport taxes or drop-off fees to do that and our flight home is pretty late in the day.

                Yeah I dug around and found it pretty quicky. Google rocks doesn't it?

                I posted some foodie ideas for ya in your thread Lawren. I can see you're getting excited. Too bad we'll just miss each other! Anyway, don't forget to call HGVC for the bldg I recommended to ya. And don't forget to pack some CDs (although there's a really good CD store up on Washington Ave you'd like).
