Hawaii Flight Plans Ideas

We've got a week booked at the big island for Jan and am trying to tack on a week in Maui either the week before and after. Flying from Western Canada, I'm trying to determine the best flight plans. It seems there are flights from here direct to Kona but not to Maui. However, I think we want to do Maui before BI because of a family wedding on Maui we just learned about.

Anyone have suggestions on best places to try to fly into? I'm assuming I'm going to have to do some island hopping flights but don't know how many? Should I do open jaw into Honolulu or Kona and hop over twice????

What are flight fares I should expect for between the islands (good price vs. average?)

I'm not sure where you will be flying from, but I'll guess either Calgary or Vancouver (HQ, AC and WS). I see nonstop flights between both cities and Kahului, Maui, but no flights to Kona, at least based on current schedules. Flights from Calgary are on HQ; flights from Vancouver are on HQ, AC and WS.

Assuming those flights work for you, why not fly into and out of Maui and take interisland flights between Maui and Kona for your week in Kona?
