Looks like the condo-hotel mini-boom may be cooling off quickly. This type of boom and slump in condos help start the original move to timeshares in the 80's and 90's. History repeats?

From that report
But Hall said he knows of one partnership that had deposits on seven condo units in Fort Lauderdale. Faced with closing on all seven, plus maintenance fees and taxes, the partners balked. They unloaded the units to secondary buyers, but at "fire-sale prices," Hall said. "They got out for pretty much what they put in," he said.

I love it. I am a contrarian. I buy low when everyone hates something and sell high when everyone wants it.
I love the condo-hotel idea. I hated the economics forever. I could never make the numbers work. Now that they are going out of favor again, I'll jump in and buy something great with a view when the cash flows warrant it.
That's what makes timesharing so wonderful. You can have an entire group of people hate something so much they are willing to pay to get rid of something at the same time that a whole other group is willing to pay 2-3 times its market value.
