  • Delta Carbon Offsets...Awesome Idea!

Support Delta's Force for Global Good
Take part in the first-ever U.S. airline program to plant trees to help offset carbon emissions.

    Go Green!

In a partnership with The Conservation Fund, we are the first U.S. airline to implement a voluntary carbon offset program — and we'd love to have you "onboard."

It's simple. Beginning June 1, 2007, you will be able to add a small donation to fund the planting of trees in sustainable managed forests around the globe when you book your ticket at delta.com. These trees will help off-set carbon emissions by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and converting it to oxygen as part of their natural processes.

We'll disburse 100 percent of your donation to The Conservation Fund program to plant trees and to support the organization's education and outreach efforts. Additionally, we'll make a donation to The Conservation Fund for every customer flying on a Delta mainline jet worldwide on Earth Day (April 22).

It's just part of our Force for Global Good initiative that strives to benefit the world we fly everyday. So go ahead and take a flight, and join us in uniting our customers and employees in support of environmental stewardship.

    Go Green!

Unless they are planting in the Northern part of the Earth in which case replacing highly reflective snow with heat absorbing trees contributes to global warming

Looks like many companies are jumping on the earth day band wagon but not the flat earth society. Even Walmart had an ad in Sundays paper promoting the use of compact fluorescent bulbs. Those bulbs are great in hard to change places even if you don't want to reduce energy usage or carbon dioxide.

Smart PR move when there are scumbag politicians out there targeting airlines and air travellers for new taxes over this ''global warming'' fraud. Gordon Brown has already doubled the air ticket tax in the UK to ''fight global warming by discouraging air travel''. His main opponent in the next election, the ''Conservative'' boy wonder boob David Cameron is proposing even more opressive taxes on air travelers. The EU's top environmental commissar is pushing for similar taxes across the continent.

Airlines need to fight back. So do air travellers. We are being targeted by the environmental extremists. The earth has always gone through warming and cooling cycles. Despite the hype, this is only a natural process. The Medieval Warm Period and the Roman warm period were both warmer than the earth is today. We are currently on an upswing after the end of the last cold period, the Little Ice Age, in the mid-1800s.

One thing I would like to see all airlines do to fight these snake oil salesmen is to establish a ''no fly'' list for environmental extremists. Make them ride their bikes! That would solve the problem a lot better than pandering to them.
