My passort hasn't arrived!!!

I am a nervous wreck. Supposed to leave Sun for Mayan Riviera. We ordered passports 3/3 and they still aren't here. I called my congresswoman and they are working on getting them here in time. They told me not to worry??? I will get them in time. Does anyone know if they could be coming Fedex? We got a notice that something was tried to be delivered (altho I think it's Kelli's replacement phone) What now? shaggy

Did you pay to have it expedited?

Don't wanna dis your congresswoman, and don't know how much access they have, but can she really make it happen?

I'm keeping a good thought that the FedX contains the passports (insert crossed fingers here). If you expedite, they can show up Very Quickly!

My brother's X had hers expedited and it showed up within 3 days. Definitely could be FedX.

You can track Kelli's phone to see if it has been shipped so maybe you can gain a little more optimism tonight.

Shaggy.....Normally, it takes 4-8 weeks to get a passport. this year, they have predicted that it would take even longer.

I remember when I applied in January, there was a way to get it, guaranteed in 3 weeks, for an additional fee. Did they offer that service to you?

Wow, didn't you know you were going to Mexico before 3/3...there has been about a 12 week lag for passports.
I did mine in November for January but paid the extra fee to expedite...got it in 3 weeks.

My senator's office promised delivery before one of my trips- thank god I didn't need it. Keep after them daily.

I knew I was going but I really forgot with Mom being so sick. When I went to get my passport they told me not to worry at the passport office. They told me it would be here in time. I asked them about paying extra to have it expedited but they said it shouldn't be necessary. When I called them a couple of weeks ago I told them I had a number assigned and they said don't worry, if I have a # it's getting ready to be mailed. The congressman's office said that is not necessarily the case. They do have my credit card # in case they have to expedite it. I guess I love living on the edge. shaggy

I went through something similar -- I booked a trip to St Maarten at the last minute. Dh had just ordered a passport a few weeks earlier, and it was due to arrive the week we planned to leave. About 5 weeks before we left, he called and paid to have it expedited, and it showed up maybe a week later.

I would call the passport office and explain the situation. Ask whether paying the expediting fee would still help at this point.

Problem is the passport agency's number is hard to get through. Even if you get through it's an automated recording and it prompts you to make an appointment. Then most of the time, the appointment line is busy and not taking calls...I paid over $400 to get my passport renewal expedited plus an Indian Visa. Luckily, my company paid for it.

Hi Shaggy,
You don't need a passport to get into Mexico, only to get back into the US. Worst case scenario, take along all your documentation that you have applied for the passport, take clear indication that you are a US citizen, like birth certificates, and have a great vacation. Then be prepared to wait a bit at the airport after you arrive home, to get sorted out at customs. The border crossings are prepared for situations like yours, although they don't like to admit it publicly.

I applied for a renewal about the same time as you (3/13), and I, too, have heard nothing (my check has cleared, tho )

Have you checked their website to get the status of your request? I have, and I am listed as NOT BEING in their system.

However, others who have used this site have found it to be helpful/informative. Supposedly, it gives an estimated delivery date for your passport.

I will not panic just yet . I do not leave the country until Oct.

We applied for my son's passport on 01/31/07 and received it on 04/09 which is 10 weeks.
We also applied for my daughter's passport who was born in Canada at about the same time and we are still waiting. I am starting to get very worried, tried to call Canadian passport office and can never get through, e-mailed them twice and never got any response . We are not travelling until beginning of June, but what if they never received the application (and her birth certificate)?

I applied for a renewal on the 3/13 as well, sent by priority mail. The site really does not give a lot of info. All it says is the passport is being processed and that I should get it within 10 weeks (same info as FAQ) from the day I applied for routine services.

Been 7 weeks, 3 more to go.
