  • Passport requirements for Aruba?

Here's my dilemma, my kids' (10 & 8) passports are expiring in the middle of August and we're going to Aruba in the middle of July. Do I need to renew their passports even though it's not expired yet and will not expire till we get back anyway? Will I have a problem entering either Aruba or the States? I'm a little worried about this now. If everyone is having a problem getting their passports on time, how am I going to solve this? I did call the Dutch consulate here in NY and the guy I spoke with said that as long as the kids' passports are still valid after we get back to the States, it should be okay. What are your opinions?
    Thanks,
    Mutual

I suggest you check the US Passport site - I have read in some places you need to have a passport that doesn't expire 3 months after travel.

The problem is not getting back into the US, the problem is leaving the US. It doesn't really matter what the Dutch Consulate told you.... call your air carrier, they're the ones that will enforce any rules that Aruba has for length of validity of your passport because if they take you and you can't get in, well, they have to bring you right back. It doesn't matter what Aruba's rules are, it matters what the airline you're flying thinks the rules are.

Thanks for the responses. Spence, I'll do just that and call Jetblue.

FYI - you need your passport to re-enter the US, not leave.
And in Aruba US Customs is IN Aruba.
Jet Blue should have the answer and I know AA has it on their website.
I hope your current passports will work since kids pp are only good for 5 years until they are 16? Maybe your older child will be over that age for the next trip and be able to get a 10 year passport

.... as explained, although US Immigration doesn't check your passport outbound, the airline does because of the liabilities if they take you there without proper papers.
