  • Car rentals Orlando

Flying to Disneyworld in September. Any advice for cheap car rentals. Thanks

    Od,
Here's how I get my lowest rates in Orlando:

RentalCars.com - rental car, rental cars, car rentals, cheap rental car, cheap rental cars, rent-a-car, car hire, rental car deals

I go for the cheapest (usually Payless) and never have had a problem. Some folks have, but not me.

I've always just had the best luck by booking as far as in advance as possible with Dollar, and as the dates have gotten closer if I came across a coupon code I could just modify my reservation. I've always came across coupon codes from Mousesavers.

I too found that by using the discounts on mousesavers.com produced the best rate. I tried just about every vendor and each of the discounts possible.

We have rented cars in FL 6-7 times in the past three years, and I book as early as possible. The rates always go higher the closer to the departure date. The most recent example was for 9/2-9/9/2007, intermediate, reserved with Budget 4/16 for $210 with taxes. It's now 3 weeks later, and the best I find is $230 with an off-site company, and $260 with Budget.

another trick you might want to try( if the airport is not to busy when you get there) is to take your online reservation/confirmation and do a little "walk up" shopping. this worked great for me in 05 at orlando- I had a confirmation with dollar but i walked up to L@M and not only did they beat my reservation quote but also upgraded the car from a minivan to an suv.

                    Check out Insurance Cost.

My Insurance Company told me it is best to pick up the CDW. The cost of Insurance in Orlando is high. Alamo's cost is $22.99/day. I do know if other rentals companies charge less but that could be factor in total cost.

                    Collision Damage Waiver (CDW).

Sometimes called a Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), this coverage relieves you of financial responsibility if your rental car is damaged or stolen. The CDW may be void, however, if you cause an accident by speeding, driving on unpaved roads or driving while intoxicated. This coverage generally costs between $9 and $19 a day. If you have comprehensive and collision on your own car, you may not need to purchase this coverage.

What if I Have an Accident in My Rental Car?

If you're involved in an accident in a rental car, most auto insurance companies pay comprehensive and collision claims at the car's actual cash value, which factors in age, mileage, and wear and tear. However, this probably won't cover the replacement cost some rental companies charge customers if they wreck a rental car. Some rental companies may also charge customers for the diminished resale value of a wrecked rental car or for lost rental income while a damaged rental car is being repaired.
