I love having my laptop with me, at all times. It's great for checking my bills, bank accout, etc. It's nice to know you still have some money left in your account, while vacationing.

It's also great if you are in an area where you can't use your cell phone. Rather than rent a cell phone, I am able to keep in touch with my family through the computer. I have spoken with my daughter, a number of times, each day.

Also, it's nice to be able to get the news when you want it, any hour of the day.

I don't think that I could ever travel without it, again.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I could not imagine taking a weekend trip without a laptop much less a longer vacation. I think I would go through withdrawel without this "interweb" thingy if I didn't have access to the web...

Hell, I might just look like this:

Gotta have the laptop. I can't relax if I know I'll be faced with 100s of emails when I return. I'd rather spend an hour or so each evening to maintain the backlog. Also, need the laptop for my Skype phone!

I'm surprised the number is not higher than 20%. Everyone I know takes a laptop on vacation.

We do too if we know that there is a connection in the unit. The last two trips to Hawaii, I took the laptop too but not to Mexico as it is too expensive there.

Business centers are very expensive too ($11 per hour at our timeshare resort) but Cyber Cafes are not expensive at all so we use those about twice a week. I wouldn't take a laptop to Europe either as I can borrow one.

I do as well, even for short trips or those into the backwoods where I know I will have no access to the internet.

I love having my laptop with me. Not just for checking emails but for using the internet for whatever we want. I actually prefer browsing the web to watching TV (unless the NFL is on).

                  I also take two laptops.

                    Not me

I don't even own a laptop. Most of the time I don't even know if the TV in our condo or hotel room works since we rarely even turn it on. I don't own a cell phone either. I guess I'm an old fuddy-duddy. I just don't need to be THAT connected to the rest of the world, especially when I'm on vacation.

I'm with you. I found the years that Steve brought his laptop I was spending far too much time on it. He stopped bringing it along several years ago, just because he didn't want to carry it with him. I must say I really haven't missed it...............while on vacation.

I am with both of you. When I am on vacation, I do NOT want to be connected to the rest of the world. As long as our kids can communicate with us is all that matters.

I wonder what people did before cell phones, especially those with a phone glued to their ear no matter where they are or what they are doing. I can't wait untill they make it illegal to use the cell phone while driving.

It is illegal to use a hand held cell phone here along with some other driving distractions. On any given day I see about 10 people an hour on their hand held while I'm on the road. Of course if I wasn't watching TV and reading the paper, I would see a lot more.

                            Always!!

I always take a laptop, and one of the considerations I exercise is checking to see if a Resort offers at least Wi-Fi in the lobby. I always try to choose a resort to trade into that offers Wi-Fi.
In cases where I can't stay at a resort that has come into the 21st century, I find the nearest library.
I will not stay at a hotel/motel unless it offers internet service.
It is challenge enough to go through a week's worth of snail mail when I get back home. If I had misses a thousand e-mails it would take weeks to catch up.
