Yes, this is stemming from a "work-to-rule" action by the pilots. There's a ton of info at flyertalk on it, in the NWA forum.

I flew NWA on Monday morning from Rapid City to Minneapolis. They had cancelled a Sunday evening flight and an early Monday morning flight to Minneapolis. Our plane took off a little late and was quite full. Some of the passengers were supposed to stay on the plane and continue to New Hampshire. When we arrived in Minneapolis, they were told that they had to switch planes.

Gee, and I always thought it was me. Every time I've flown NWA somethings gone wrong causing delays or missed connections. I figured it was just bad luck. Looks as if it may have been bad management instead.

While I normally avoid NWA due to the poor history I've had with the airline I do have Jan '08 trip booked on them. Hopefully they'll have things working better by the time we take our flight.

Same EOM work hour issue I've seen on UA since back after the "summer of hell" in 2000. I try to fly early in the month

I don't fly NW that much, maybe 15-20K/yr, and have done much better on them than UA, but that's with 3-5 times the butt-in-seat (on UA).

This NW pilots action is pretty recent. My guess is that it will go through the 4th and probably settle down shortly thereafter. NW has had a pretty decent record over the last year or two, and that includes the machinists strike that went nowhere because NW had replacements at the ready.

During bankruptcy, the unions' hands were tied---the judge could (and sometimes did) compel them to get back to work. Now that they are solvent again, well...

I'm a Red Tail captive in DTW, so unless one of the LCCs fly there, or it's another major's hub, I'm pretty much stuck.
