  • Least Expensive to Get to from DC/Baltimore: Aruba, St. Kitts or St. Thomas?

Does it annoy anyone when I post the same question on TUG?

Anywho - has someone done the homework on this?

STT then Aruba, don't know about St Kitts....depends on the time of year.

I like to use Cheap Flights, Airfare, Hotel Reservations, Car Rentals - Kayak.com - Discount and Last Minute Travel Deals to compare fares.....

To any of the Virgin Islands or SXM it is often cheapest to catch a sale fare to San Juan and team that with a puddle jumper. I saved $300/ticket doing that to STT this coming Xmas.

            Thanks and more questions.

Like in a pie eating contest where the prize is more pie . . . here is another question in gratitude for your answers.

Spence and others, how do I research fares and book flights with the San Juan to St. Thomas puddle jumpers? They are invisible to Sidestep.

(PS and thanks for your patience for all of you that don't mind reading my same question on two bulleting boards)

I am glad you are asking here too because you will get more answers with the two forums rather than one.

The first time I heard about http://www.kayak.com/ was in this forum and the answers here are good to know for west coast people too.

                  Thank You Lawren!

The Caribbean is on the short list for future vacations. Too bad Marriott does not have a place in Puerto Rico.

Just put in a search for the routes you want at Travelocity, Orbitz, or Kayak, or probably SideStep. DCA/IAD/BWI whichever you eant or all three to SJU. When the sale showed up on USAir I had them book it all the way through the puddle jumper because if you buy separate you'll be liable for the missed flight if your plane is late!!!

Living in Maryland also and constantly trying to work the airline fares, I can tell you that there is not a clear winner for cheap airfare. We almost always flight non-stop for trips, wife doesn't like taking off and landing. Some of our best airfares have come out of DCA to the Carribbean. You can get great airfare to Ft Lauderdale and catch a connecting flight to the Islands.

The puddle jumpers do offer some great prices, but I don't have a chance in hell to get my wife on one of them. So I don't even bother checking them out in detail. Every now and then I'll say "Hey look at this airfare" and quickly get the look and I move on.

                        Thanks Tom.

I travel with three kids under six and and my MIL who has a hard time getting around, so I understand that taking the needs of everyone involved is very important.
