I just received a call about joining Cheap Trips for $99.00 lifetime membership. Does anybody belong to this, and is it worth it. They claim up to 80% discounts on flights, match lower fares or refund your money, discount car rentals.

What did you learn when you Googled them?
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

    “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Actually, I think it sounds too good to be true. I just did a dummy flight schedule on their site and really didn't see any difference if I had gone directly to Northwest.

I used them once for my daughter and her family. Her spouse had to work a day and I changed his reservation. It cost me $100 for Cheap Ticket and then another $50 for the airline. I got a good price on the original ticket, but not with the change.

That was last year and there wasn't a membership fee.

I think you're referring to CheapTickets.com. The OP is referring to CheapTrips.com. They are quite different.

CheapTrips is a ripoff. CheapTickets is merely pointless.

              *********

IIRC, CheapTickets started up when TWA bought out Carl Icahn's investment in the company to make him go away (greenmail). As part of the deal, TWA gave Icahn an inventory of discounted tickets, which he set up CheapTickets to sell.

After that inventory was gone, CheapTickets was just like any other travel site; from then on the fares I saw at Cheap Tickets were the same (or more expensive) as I was being offered at sites such as Orbitz. Now I note that CheapTickets is included in the Kayak.com search, so should CT ever come up with something cheaper I ought to be able to grab it that way.

Yes, you are correct, I was talking about cheap tickets not cheap trips. Must have read it to fast.
