  • Cheap tickets on European carriers earning fewer miles

Those buying cheap fare tickets on European carriers should be aware that more and more, their US partners are not awarding full miles. Sometimes, one may be shortchanged 75% of actual milage flown, earning only 25%.
The worst has always been AA which gave you 0% of miles on trans-Atlantic flights on ''partner'' BA on any fare.

Most recently SkyTeam's US carriers are giving reduced milage on its European partner's lower fares. If miles matter, always check to see if you get full miles or reduced miles if buying a ticket on a European carrier.

I have a bigger whine. My intra Europe miles always seem to go missing, especially with USAir partners. Trans Atlantic has not been a problem since I am always redeeming miles anyway.

After much emailing and faxing of boarding passes, etc. most of the time I get the miles but it is a hassle.

    Cheers

When they only give you 25% of the miles you should have earned - 2500 instead of 10,000, I suspect you will consider it a problem - and that is exactly what they are starting to do.

I only rarely had a problem with intra-Europe segments showing up in my ff account with NW and none at all at DL.
