Travel Agency Business Online Info Please

I have heard of people that have developed(bought into) an at home on-line travel agency business and I am curious if there are members here who have had experiences with any of them. The first I heard of was YTB(Your Travel Biz or Business). Some of them are Multi-Level Marketing, which means to me that you get compensated for bringing in other people and they get more people under them....sort of a pyramid kind of thing. Now, we have truly close friends who are trying to get us involved in their similar on-line travel company and we are concerned that it's more pyramid than travel. Are there members out there who can enlighten me(and others) about these at home, on-line travel businesses? Any information would be appreciated. Gary

There was a lot of promotion going on a few years ago and it turned out to be a losing proposition.
Think about it. Would you book travel online through GaryD or would you be more likely to use Travelocity or Priceline ?

I bought a home study course through intrepidtraveler.com called Home Based Travel Agency. It came with a book called How to Choose a Host Agency. It explained how the different types of host agencies operate inluding referral agencies such as the one you described. I believe this book can be purchased separately. It listed some legitimate agencies in every catagory and there was also a chapter on what questions you should ask when choosint the right one for you. You might want to purchase this book before you decide.
