I would have liked the two to combine, That is less miles to keep track of.

With UA and NW/DL routinely taking potshots at each other's hubs, I'd think a merger would lessen competition and we UA elites might see MileagePlus looted or sold off and FF perks diluted.

I'd also miss the myriad of mistakes UA has sent my way

Reduced competition---not so hot for the traveler, methinks.

Delta and NW were already code-sharing and had cross-promoted perks programs, so less to be gained than meets the eye.

Care to share any stories with us Pat? Unfortunatly they haven't made any mistakes in my favor.

A merger of United with either NW or Delta would not be good for me. If a merger had to occur, the combination I would prefer is NW-Delta. Let United merge with US Air.

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

            “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Well, this week there was an economy mistake (actually I think they were giving the finger to AA, but it appeared to be a mistake when I first saw it) SFO-STL for 98.00 r/t.

I flew a similar itinerary in paid first class in November for 276.00 r/t

I flew to New Zealand via Australia in July for 1426.00 r/t in full paid business class (upgraded via SWU to first class on the SFO-SYD-SFO legs). That mistake happened to occur on my birthday (in May) and a kind FT'er with whom I did the Japan hotel mistake deal in March 2006 gave me a nice BD present

That was 2007's take. Only reason I didn't do more was lack of money. We flew about 1/2 dozen mistake fares in 2006, domestic and international.

It's an interesting world out there
