I think it is best to know what you might be getting with a Priceline bid by looking carefully at what others win on the biddingfortravel.com website (and their hotel lists for the area where you are bidding). Then check out the hotel reviews on a site like tripadvisor.com and look on each hotel's own website to see what amenities they offer. Also be sure and find out before you bid if there are extra hotel costs on top of your Priceline rate (i.e. parking, resort fee).

In other words if there are 4 or 5 hotels in your preferred star rating and zone read about them first (and see which ones win the bids most often) so you won't be surprised with something you don't want.

I was very happy with my Priceline results last week. We needed a last minute hotel in Houston to attend a funeral. I looked at what the likely choices were in the part of town we wanted in the 3* range and only two hotels showed up on BFT. Either of those would have cost around $600 based on the rates on their own websites for our 3 night stay. I won one of those two (the Marriott Westchase) for $70 a night, total of $255 (including the taxes and fee). We saved a ton of money and it was a great hotel.

        Bid low,ask high

We got a 4 star beautiful place near the river for $50 for one night. Bid asap incase you need to retry. Priceline is fantastic. Only had a disappointment with Victoria BC when I came up empty with $60 for a 3-4 star and ended up getting a very so so place FOR $40(2 STAR). If time is too short, an extra 10-20 may help with your bid. garyd210
