  • What a **** waste of time!

Delta Airlines! Booking an award on Delta used to be a breeze. They had one of the greatest online systems....well, we haven't had a chance to book one until today and when I went to do it, I ran into their new system! What a design nightmare. I cannot wait to dump the miles, and get away from their FF program. This is ridiculous.

Wow I always did good with Delta FF miles. I also like to call to speak to a rep. They tend to put flights that may not be offered online.

BTW moving this to the travel forum.

Sorry Frank, I couldn't find the Travel Forum....it doesn't seem to be easy to find under the topic General Timeshare Topics....so I appreciate you moving it to the proper spot....I always have trouble finding this forum! Thanks.

Sorry to hear this...booked a trip with ff miles a few months ago with no problem, but have heard several disparaging comments about them lately..

They're getting ready for the merger with UA, which is legendary for their F'ed up web site, AKA UA.bomb

Pat I haven't been following this. Is it really happening? That would make me a happy camper as most of my miles are with UA but Delta seems to be showing up more and more often on the routes I need.

We end up on Delta a lot, and usually don't have many complaints with the flights themselves. Phone service, otoh, and flight change notification, leaving something to be desired lately.

They are talking to both Northworst and Untidy.

As far as awards, I tried the web site a while ago for a TATL to London return from Venice with no success at the Sky Saver rate. When I called, the CSA got me two Biz Class Tickets on Air France via CDG. That was OK as I got them for the Sky Saver miles.

                Cheers

Last several times I have had to deal with CSR in Delta, I got non-English speakers with little problem solving skills....has that changed? It drives me mad when I ask a question and you just know that they turned to a page and are reading the CSR handbook reply....I need someone with experience and a brain when I call...I only call a CSR desk when I have a question that requires critical thinking skills....it is so frustrating to deal with CSRs overseas who are told to "follow answer #1 then go to question #1 and then give them answer #1" .... you know what I mean?

I know what you mean. I have a TracFone. Their customer service is the biggest nightmare. I've gotten to the point where if I have a problem with the phone, I throw it out and buy a new one and get a new number, because the last time I tried to port a number, it took LITERALLY twelve hours on the phone with about six different reps. Life is too short to spend so much of it with TracFone reps!

While my post was primarily poking fun at UA, the possibility is very real. I read this morning that Gene Tilton would consider leaving Star Alliance if the deal hinged on it.

I just hope Delta doesn't outsource CS to somewhere offshore like UA uses (India and Philippines mainly). Only way to get a knowledgeable CSR is to be a high level elite (1K/GS) or call late at night and hopefully get Honolulu.

Haven't tried DL's site but didn't see any voluminous rants about it on Flyertalk.....

Pat, last year when we were flying a Delta flight I called CSR to get info on one day pass cost to the Crown Club....got India....literally the person would not give me the answer, she stuck to her script:

"Delta, how can I help you."

"Could you please tell me what the cost is for a one day pass in the Crown Club?"

"Please tell me your flights, and I can check that for you."

"No, I don't need to tell you my flights, as I just want to know the cost."

"I will be glad to answer the question, but first give me your flight dates and numbers...."

Literally we went round and round, and then I hung up.
