Best bets for car rentals in Scotland and France?

Hi all:
Would love to hear about good rates and positive experiences renting cars in these two areas. We will be landing in Glasgow and dropping off at Edinburgh airport this June. We will probably use Autoeurope in France because we will pick up at CDG and drop off in Auxerres.
Any input will be appreciated.
