With some of the low cost airlines shutting down, raising gas prices and the FAA, how much more do you think we will be paying for airplane tickets in the future?

It depends on whether DL gets away with taking over NW. If so, that will trigger another merger, probably CO and UA. Then you get into a serious oligopoly situation. Consumers should shower the regulators with opposition to the DL/NW merger if it is submitted.
Fortunately on this side of the pond, large and profitable LCC's like RyanAir and EasyJet will insure that there are reasonable tickets to be had.
RyanAir may even help keep things honest in the states, as they are gearing up to offer trans-Atlantic flights and are talking about starting a US domestic airline.

I know I am having trouble with 2 that I am still looking to book and am beginning to have my doubts about the prices coming down to acceptable levels. I got very very lucky with my SRQ, PVR and LAX flights.
BDA is unreasonable at $400 RT for a 2 hour flight. STX has been sitting at the same price for months and months. Today went up $10.
Not happy. I hate to say it but I need a hurricane or 2 to shake up the caribbean flight costs.Lawren
